Arctic Guide Service is seeking guides for the 2011 season. We need
guides for Cruise ship and Hurtigruten (The Norwegian Coastal Steamer) bus
sightseeing tours. We are looking for people with good interpersonal and
language skills in ITALIAN.
If you can picture yourself standing in front of 40 tourists (in a bus
or museum) and telling them interesting facts and amusing stories about Tromso
or Lofoten, you might be the person we are looking for!
The base salary is NOK 200 per hour for new guides, guides working with
us for the second year get a base salary of NOK 210 an hour, while guides
working with us for the third year or more get a base salary of NOK 230 an
hour.
In order for applicants to get an idea of how much they can earn, we
have uploaded the salary information of the different language combinations/2009 summer (all the
following amounts are BEFORE taxes).Applicants can simply open the attached documents and find out how
much their particular language combination earned in June, July or August 2009.
In order to roughly calculate how many hours of work this language combination
received per month, all you need to do is to divide the (monthly) amount by NOK
200.
You will notice that there are differences in salaries between guides
with similar language combinations; the ones who were available when we needed
them are the ones who earned most. You will also notice that this job is about
few well paid working hours which allow you to whether enjoy your vacation
under the Midnight Sun, or have a second job when you are not guiding.
If you are
not yet an authorized guide, you need to take a course and pass a theoretical
and a practical exam. This year we have one course in May. Underneath you will
find the detailed course program. The price of the course is NOK 2000 which you
can pay up to two months after finishing the course. Candidates who feel that
they will not be able to pass the exams should quit as soon as possible and
they will not be billed for the course. Exceptional
candidates who decide to learn by own hand still have to take both exams and pay
a NOK 1000 exam fee.
